When I look back and realize I have spent the last 25 years in the finance environment I immediately think I must be either "old" or "boring" or "both". I don't feel either.
I'm certainly "older" but I think the way in which our industry has changed so greatly over the years has maintained the fascination and the excitement that I had when I graduated with my degree in 1979.
Many people will be surprised I term the things I do, as exciting. But remember, we are not just accountants. In fact, we are not even accountants. Accountants work with numbers - we work with people. My vision, when I started KDB, and one which still remains today, was to provide the most appropriate service to our clients. We have succeeded in doing this in the past, and I am determined to ensure that we continue doing this also in the future.
The last 25 years have seen me working with the large accounting firms, as a partner with a small medium sized inner-city company, and then from 1991 as an owner of what is now KDB where our focus tends more to be with Small/Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and individuals.
We have created a wonderful team at KDB, full of individuals with a variety of knowledge, experience, likes and dislikes. Together we are complimentary and provide to our clients, who often become our friends, a totally unbiased, pro-active and realistic environment in which they feel comfortable, safe, and valued.
When allowed to leave the office, I love cycling, tennis and golf. I spend most weekends, as many parents do, driving my children to participate in various school sports and then spending as much time as possible with my wife, Jane.
